My father in law has a 2002 ZO6. I have driven it......once, and it is fast. I know you're having fun with this and that's what its all about. But unless you are running in the 12.30's or less, you will get beat by a stock ZO6. The car has too much power for the stock tires. For example, last time out it was 50 degrees at the track. I rode along and he had a good launch. however at the top of 1st gear, the tires came loose and shook the car severely. He granny shifted to 2nd and it basically did the same thing. Granny to 3rd, some more hop, in and out of the throttle. Finally tripped the lights at 13.60 @ 116mph. As you can see by the trap speed, these cars make power on the top end too.

I got a funny story about a Z06: I was driving my father's 2003 Audi A6 2.7T (automatic) one night awhile back. I found myself at a light next to a Z06 with at least an aftermarket exhaust. Now, the Audi's have an automatic (autoStick on the side) that goes PRNDS, with the "S" being "sport" mode (if you want to go to low gear, you've gotta go into AutoStick mode). In "S" mode, with the traction control turned off, you can powerbrake a decent (although not spectacular) AWD launch. So, I was next to a modded Z06 in this Audi. I powerbraked the shit out of the car, and launched as hard as I could. I beat the Z06 across the intersection, then heard a loud-ass roar as the 'vette passed me like I was standing still. I found it amusing

Dude, my 'Stang does that kind of stuff on the track. If you bang the 1-2 shift hard enough, it feels like the back of the car is about to pass you on anything but drag radials. However, my best time in the 'stang was 13.6 @ 102...Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I have even half a chance against a Z06. Just saying that those characteristics are exhibited by a lot of higher-torque RWD cars. It sounds like the "shaking" you described was severe wheelhop, inherent with IRS RWD cars. The 'vette is designed for handling/AutoX-ing/Road Racing, not drag racing :p

Funnest thing is to "borrow" my dads BMW X5 4.8l
- That thing will blow the doors of Mustangs no problem, and they just can't figure out how an SUV beat them at the light :-D

After the track last night, I was cruising my town...It must have been Camaro night or something lol...I ended up racing THREE Z28's and ONE SS...I Smoked all three Z28's...All of them had exhaust work and one had Quad exhaust in the middle like a Vette and he said he had gears done to it...All of them were so shocked and embarassed...I talked to all of them after I raced them...The SS was a little more difficult, but I got him to by a little less than a car length up to 77 mph.....Well, fellas? There's an LS1 for ya...still doubt me? Check out my time slip... http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/4/web/412000-412999/412665_15_full.jpg ...that 1/8 time translates to 13.68 in the 1/4...the new GTO runs it in 13.8 (MANUAL)

Camaro SS= Heavier and about 70 less horses than the Z06, you`l end up blowing up tranny before you start to smell the vette`s exhaust fumes

I spanked a Zo6. I was coming up I-85 and ended up behind a new zo6. It was some guy and his girlfriend or wife. I started riding his rear a lil and when we hit an open zone I went over into the next lane to pass. He hammered it, and so I did the same. We started about 75mph and I was about 5 car lengths on him by 130mph. So the guy pulls up next to me again and hammers it, I hit it and let off a few times teasing him, then I nailed it and pulled away... So much fun riding a ZX6R Ninja..............
I pick up my GTP in a week... Very excited, and cant wait!!!
