But unless you are running in the 12.30's or less, you will get beat by a stock ZO6. The car has too much power for the stock tires. For example, last time out it was 50 degrees at the track. I rode along and he had a good launch. however at the top of 1st gear, the tires came loose and shook the car severely. He granny shifted to 2nd and it basically did the same thing. Granny to 3rd, some more hop, in and out of the throttle. Finally tripped the lights at 13.60 @ 116mph. As you can see by the trap speed, these cars make power on the top end too.
Dude, my 'Stang does that kind of stuff on the track. If you bang the 1-2 shift hard enough, it feels like the back of the car is about to pass you on anything but drag radials. However, my best time in the 'stang was 13.6 @ 102...Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I have even half a chance against a Z06. Just saying that those characteristics are exhibited by a lot of higher-torque RWD cars. It sounds like the "shaking" you described was severe wheelhop, inherent with IRS RWD cars. The 'vette is designed for handling/AutoX-ing/Road Racing, not drag racing :p
