After a few of these cold day's, I'm really interested in getting heater elements for my seats that don't come heated from the factory frown
I was looking at http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.mv?Sc...gory_Code=GPINT
and am wondering how hard this actually is to do. I don't want to screw up my seats!
Any other suggestions or tips?

Thanks!
Bill

Hello,

Leather? Or Cloth?

I may witness this exact process happen next weekend. I will let you know what I learn if it happens.

Later now,
Clint

Check to see if the wire is plugged in under the seat.

Clint,
Did you ever get around to doing this?

Yes, thanks for reminding me......

Difficulty of installation on a scale of 1-10... I would rate it a 4 with 10 being the hardest.

We installed an after market kit in a Leather Passenger seat. The seat rocked right out after removing 2 T-50 Torx bolts from the rear. This made manipulating the heater pads in much easier.
Once the seat is out, it's pretty self explanitory as far as removing the cover from underneath. The Back cover is a bit more difficult as the seam is right at the base where the seat back meets the seat base. The seam is made up of a full length tab that inserts into a full length slot. Sorry I don't know how else to explain it.
Once the kit was installed in the seat, we located a power source and wired in a new switch right next to the factory drivers switch. That little panel pops right out. You may want to dismantle the console to make routing wires a bit easier. Dismantling is done by popping the appropriate tabs out of their slots, there is no screws holding it together.

We didn't need to do the drivers seat, but I would think the main difference would be weight, and existing wire connectors if you've got the power seat. If you don't have a power seat, it should be the same.

I didn't do this project by myself.... I was most interested in how the cover comes off the seat, beyond that, I'm familiar with the other aspects.

I hope this is the information you were looking for.

Are you giving them enough time?

It takes a couple of minutes for the heat to start feeling noticable.

ok get a multimeter unplug the connector under the seat. Turn the switch on and test the lead for power. If there is no power then you got a bad switch. Then check and see how much resistance(ohms) there is on the seat side of the wiring. If it's showing an open circuit then the heating element in the seat is bad and needs to be replaced. The elements are woven into the seat covers and over time the flexing of the wires will break them opening the circuit and rendering your heat useless.
