I am not sure about the HUD switch lighting up. But you do not need the windshield with the dedicated HUD location. You can use your existing windshield. I have read that the numbers are still legible and they are just a little grainy around the edges.

I believe the dash piece is just for making the hud presentable.

If you're talking about the dimmer/mover switch for it I believe it does light up.

x2, I think it is just for looks, and I don't believe the switch lights up.

Any one that has a HUD on their gtp, can you go out and check. So I know if I messed up the wiring or not. Thank you.

Just checked, there is nothing that lights up, unlike the headlight switch.

Mine lights up. The wording under the switches do not light up, but the switches do light up in my 99 model.

WTF are you serious? My '99 does not. Maybe I just have a burned out bulb or something.

Weird, I'll have to check that out. My headlight switch lit up, but not my HUD switch.
