ok i just got back. i tried it and it didn't work. i got the chime that told me i was in programming mode, but for some reason it never programmed the remote. maybe there's no batteries in it or something, it feels kinda light. but my mom said that the pontiac place was gonna do it for free tomorow so i may as well wait, im not goin anywhere between now and then anyway.

For factory remotes, it depends on which Body Control Module is installed in the car. A Type 2 BCM gives you power door locks, and Type 3 and 4 gives you keyless entry (RPO AU0). If it doesn't work, you can have an aftermarket system installed.. wink

When it was in programming mode, how many chimes did you hear..2,3, or 4?

I had to change the battery in my remote recently, and I thought I'd be in for a big hassle. Opened the owner's manual and there it was, just about all you do is just replace the battery and walk to the car. So much for the hassle.

Speaking of which, Pontiac says the maximum range of the remote is 30 feet. If my remote worked 30 feet away, or even 20 feet, I'd fall away in a dead faint.

Most of the time I have to be within 5-6 feet before it will unlock the doors. Even with the new battery my max range is certainly less than 10 feet. And with the trunk, I usually have to just about put the remote against the rear glass.

Oh, well.... at least I have a remote.... what am I bitc##ng about, anyway? I think I must be a chronic complainer.

im not exactly sure how many, but it was definately a few after i closed the door, but i may be wrong it could have been the chime that goes off when you open the door.

i was sitting in the passengers seat, and i was pressing the buttons seperately, maybe those were my problems. but im going by the pontiac place tomorow anyhow, so it's not such a big deal anyway.

Hey Guys...can Anyone tell me, if it's possible for someone to use Your remote door opener to program a blank one...that could open Your doors?

I had a Mechanic do some work on the GP, & He kept mentioning how much He loves the GTP. He bought a 2002 GP...since He couldn't find a GTP, but he would love to get a S.Charger to install in His GP. And, He kept asking(4 different times)would I sell Him mine.

Now, maybe I am just being Paranoid...but, is it possible that someone could copy the code to a Blank, to get in & access the engine Compartment and/or steal a car?

It was the first time...I decided to try this Shop, & since it wasn't a Big Job, I figured...I would give Him a Shot! But, for some reason He appeared to be a Slicky & made Me Concern...& that's been bothering Me.
