Engine bay from a Cavalier I detailed at work.
Thought I'd do a couple of before and after shots...
Let me know what you think. It took 18 minutes to clean, dry, and detail......HONESTLY
Let the engine run and use an air compressor to blow off the rest of the water...

BEFORE.........

AND AFTER......

Lemme know what you think...
Oh...I have seen WAY WORSE than this......

Wait a sec. How did you get through all the nooks and cranies.

You replaced the foam around the battery too?

I can believe 18 minutes. Wasn't any oil issues from what I see. Only dust.

Still the most impressive cleaning I ever saw!!!

Didn't replace anything.
Oil was covering the valve cover and down the front of the motor. I wish it were only dust...LOL

Heres a step by step.....

I started by wetting down the front of the car......fenders and bumper cover.
I then sprayed a degreaser we get at work....It's called "Hot Stuff". Awesome stuff....works GREAT. I use it full strength on jobs like this. Don't even have to let it set. Used a SOFT bristle brush and wipe down the underside of the hood and painted surfaces under the hood.
Then I just hose it off with regular pressure out of a water hose w/nozzle.

I never cover anything up......

Then to dry, I ran the engine for a bit.....got impatient, and grabbed the air hose and aided in the drying process.
After that, i grabbed a can of Quick Detail........can't remember the brand.....something I get from the supplier......Works alright, not my #1 choice....but it works......

Goes to show how some one selling a car can fool one into thinking that the engine was actually cared for and leak free!

smile

Good job hope you charged an arm and a leg to make it look new again.

Man, that's impressive, to say the least. I've always been leary of doing my GP GT- thought I'd get some electronics wet and not be able to get it started afterwards. There's no problem with this? I might just have to go for it, next spring. Thanks devilsmile

I cover the coil pack and take off the engine cover. I also use a shop vac to suck up excess water. To finish, I use this stuff called "Sonus Motor Kote" it makes it look brand new.

Nice job it looks great, but have to agree with Herc used car buyers beware of freshly detailed engine bays they are very deceptive, after a few hundred miles oil leaks reappear and you are left with a leaky mess.Chico.

Most dealerships do cover things up. As far as the motor goes, our dealership fixes anything with the motor that is wrong. I know, because it's ME who has to fix it. And we have a warranty too.
