What's best for the money a Camaro 99-00 V8 5.7 or a mustang V8 4.6 99-00?
I think those will be my options once i sell the GP.

I'm don't lean towards a car company.
The Camaro's insurance is more and is less comfortable to drive. Ford's 99-00 exterior design is pretty nice but the Camaro's is a lot more sportier in my opinion.
Camaro: 305 HP Mustang: 260 HP
Tough call but my vote is the Mustang just because its more tolerable and pratical as a daily driver. If you are looking for more power than before, then the Camaro.

Camaro all the way. Mustakes are built by ford.

Your going to pay out the rear for a F-body with the LS1. You can get the 'Stang for a lot cheaper and have money to play with on mods.

Stock to Stock..... If you want to run the 1/4 mile faster, go with the LS1 Camaro. If ET's are not a concern go with what you like. They are both respectable muscle cars, but the camaro takes the win at the drags.

camaro, i think that body style stang is, well, lets just say, have fun looking stupid and getting whipped by every jap car on the road, 4 or my friends had that body style and they are just junk.
Plus the 5.7L engine in that camero is the same engine as every chev and GMC pickup/suv 88-98 vortec or TBI. So there is a HUGE parts market out there, both used and aftermarket.
Easy to work on, reliable, and most inportantly, GM!!!!!!!!!!!

For me it would be a toss up. On one hand I hate ford and the dime a dozen mustang; but on the other hand I dont like the camaros body style. Personally I'd rather drive something sporty that looks good than drive something fast that doesnt look good. (I'm sure I'll get flack for saying the camaro doesnt look good) I've never liked the wedge look of the camaro. Either way you go, if you're looking to mod both have a good aftermarket following. But in the end I still say its a draw.

STANG!!! I have always like Mustangs (except the new body style... loved it until we bought one, had it in the shop every week, and then totaled it). If could have afforded the insurance, I would have bought a Stang GT over the GP

I had a 98 z28 before my gtp that thing ran faster better and the engine didnt sound like s**t like the mustang did. I had supposively the crappy year LS1 camaro but that thing ran wonderful. When i was looking to buy the car i was thinking 2002 brand new loaded stang gt. Hell no the engine sounded like it had a bag of marbles in it and just couldnt move. Trust me the other perk is the t-tops. Just think about bright summer days drining with the windows don and t-tops off. My .02

What about a convertable or hardtop Cobra SVT? Yeah it's a 2003+ but gee, the 4.6 V8 blown (factory) puts out 390/390. And with few mods, pully, pcm, X pipes, cold air intake. 450HP+ or more. Can get them for ~$20-$25k
