Anyone live by one? Some jack donkey who was going to develope a fancy "Gas-Light" shopping district 2 blocks from my house has sold out to Wal-Mart. They are going to build a Neighborhood Market. This will kill my neighborhood value I believe. The traffic will be terrible and some of the people that Wal-mart stores attract are not what we want in our neighborhood. The location will be behind the Chilis you see in the link below. The small grocery store you see just left of where it says N Maize Rd is closing so Wal-Mart will have more room. The beautiful Swanson Tract Park north of it has tons of Deer, Turkeys, Geese, Ducks and I've heard of a Red Fox sighting or two. This park is one of my kids and I favorite place to ride bikes. We see deer 2 out of 3 rides. The Gated Community that borders the piece of land is fighting tooth & nail to stop it. The homes in there average $400K.

I live down the street from a neighborhood market. Its not as bad as a regular walmart. They are small, and just carry groceries.

That makes no sense as there is a Grocery Store less than 1/2 block south of where they want to build. There is a Walmart Superstore & a Kroger Super Store 2 miles North, a Super Target 2.5 Miles North, another Grocery Store 1 mile North and 1 mile East. The property sure is small, so we will see.

I also see on Wal-Mart's websire that they include a *****acy and most Market Stores have 2 drive thru lanes for the *****acy

The forum edited my post. *****acy is where you buy prescription drugs. (Farm a cee) And yes I know I spelled it wrong above, but if I spell it right, it gets edited.

AH! I wonder why the software edited the name of that kind of store? It's a legit place, isnt it? Unless it's because of the parties that are popular with teens after raiding med cabs...

no complaints, Herc, just perplexed why the system decided...

How many have actually shopped at the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market? We tend to like Super Wal-Mart for shopping when not around a Commissary. Wal-Mart tends to be more expensive than the Commissary, but MAN that variety!

I don't care for Wal-Mart's meat and produce selection. I have never seen the "neighborhood market".

What type of people are you talking about that they attract that you don't like? Whomever you're talking about have a right to shop wherever they want. What makes you or your neighborhood so special.

hey, 995, welcome to the board. Enjoy your stay.

You're right, saying that Wal-Mart attracts a lesser class of person was against EO and Consideration Of Others policies. No, not everyone who shops Wal-Mart is a bad person (after all, I know I'm not!), but Wal-Mart does seem to attract a certain percentage of the population that I really dont prefer to spend time around. Depending on how the land is developed and managed, his property values may very well be in jeopardy. Only time can tell.

Welcome again. Post pics of your ride! We tend to be pic whores here.

I still ask the question, what makes you so special? Their not bothering you. Their there to shop just like you are. Just because someone doesn't dress like you or are as educated as you doesn't make them less of a human being. Consider yourself fortunate.

yeah, 'cause I dress in a suit and have a Ph.D. AND M.D. from Havard AND Yale, making 500k a month. Is this the only reason you joined this board?

Wal-Mart isnt the only thing that negatively affects property values. Malls, theatres, apartments, medical plazas, what ever brings a high rate of transient traffic. Non-resident traffic brings with it all sorts of riff-raff, not only the good people.

By good people, I'm talking the non-criminals. Those who are not involved with any controlled substance, human trafficking, kidnap, rape, vehicle/property theft, violent crimes...I could go on forever.

I'm sorry that someone crapped in your Wheaties on Thanksgiving, but you need not bring thine angst into our midst this evening. I hope the remainder of your holiday brings better tidings your way.
