im honestly not sure....... what do yall think?

" Viruses are right on the border between living and nonliving"
^ that is the only thing holding a car back. because a virus is smaller than a cell. so it all depends if you beleave a virus is alive or not.
a car eats( gas ) breaths ( air) excreats ( exaust)
people might say hey a car dosent reprduce well neither does a clone and we all remember ?dolly? the sheep right? ( hopefully that was its name) eveything ( that is needed to live ) a living thing does a car can do in some way or another. i even had a bio teacher at EMU debate this with me and he couldent prove me wrong.
his only argument was it has to have cells that devide, but some professors and scientists beleave a virus is a liveing thing and it is not made up of cells. because its smaller than that

i know im crazy and very sleep deprived so please dont make 2 much fun of me lol crazy

well, they do tend to have minds of their own, and their very own distinct personalities. You're right: they do breath in, burn the fuel they take in, and release the by-products and wastes of such processes.

the one thing that I think will seal this debate, however is this one question: are cars able to reproduce on their own? ALL other creatures/beings are able to reproduce by either sexual/asexual methods. Cars require external influences to multiply. Viruses/bacterium dont even require assembly lines or factories. Cars dont have mitosis, osmosis, procreation, or any of the like.

One thing for damn sure, they sure let you know if they're feelin sick, hurt, neglected, or abused, dont they?

Cars are breeding grounds for gremlins though. Are gremlins alive?

well then your professor at EMU is a douche for multiple reasons. For something to be classified as 'living' it must be nitrogen based. That is why even if we find 'life' on another planet it can't really be classified as living unless it is nitrogen based even though it clearly can manipulate its motor functions. Your car isn't going to fuel itself like you can, it doesn't go through krebs or pyruvate oxidation or ETC to make its own energy like you do, it's useless without somekind of intervention. I really wonder how your professor is a professor if he can't even argue that a car isnt living...

BUT to agree with you, when my parents had their old P.o.S caravan i always felt bad when it had to chug up a hill lol. I was like "awwh, poor thing" lol.

It can too. Once you turn on the key, its computer thinks a lot. It tells itself how much fuel to consume, when it needs to shift gears. I've seen a few that have run away of their own accord. laugh

I'm going to say a car is definetly not a living thing. Until it get start itself and drive me around bars without me controlling it....
lol
I've been studying some processor-level architecture and coding lately. Definetly not even close to living..!
