Only once, replaced within a week.
Had a 360 for almost 3 (? I think) years now. Mine broke because I played it so much and I had it sitting upright, which blocks one of the main ventilation ports. Had this one for almost two years, no problems.
Mathematically, failure rate is going to be higher on a product that has sold more units and has higher demand. Not to mention Microsoft publicly put themselves out there apologizing and offering restitution for the problems created. The media ate it up and created a beast, I see it worked well from all the 360 bashing I see.

Yeah I really would, Rick. It vents a hell of a lot easier when all the vent ports are free to circulate.
If you've got the room to spare, try to put it in a place that doesn't really have anything around it that could trap the hot air, especially behind it. I have mine sitting on a two stacks of empty CD cases.
This should also prevent it from forming the habit of scratching CDs. That seems to only happen to ones that are set up vertical.

This is a view of my predicament. I have precious little room on this entertainment center tower, and dare not put this stuff on the TV stand portion, else the kids be able to have easy access to this stuff. What are your recommendations?

lol, not really. I just like to try and keep up with the times. That and the newer games are all the coolest-looking.

Workin on getting a Wii, and keeping all that I already paid off. PS3 might be next. Never know. I was talkin about ventilation for the 360, how best to arrange all the items I already have, and not concern myself with cable length.
