So i'm looking for a nice TV for my room in my house next year. I want a 26"-32" LCD HDTV. I don't need the 1080p i will just stick with the 720p(I'm a college student). Any suggestions as to what brands are best?

best thing ive seen, not brand wise but, ive seen the video wall at best buy...and other places when they have had all the same thing on...like a dvd playing o all tv's and at one time there was one that was less price then another and the lower price one looked better, short story long..go shopping..see all of them in action, just like test driving a car

go to www.cnet.com. They have great reviews. I've based most of my decisions on my electronics from them over the past 5 years and they haven't let me down yet.

Beware big box stores like Best Buy...they rip you off.

My 50" plasma was the top rated one on cnet last year. BestBuy had the SAME TV with an extra remote. Because of that remote, they gave the TV a different part number, and jacked the price up $1000. Yeah, that's not a typo...one THOUSAND dollars for a frickin remote. Since it had a different part number, you could shop and compare all you want, but you'd never find that part number anywhere but Best Buy.

I have two Vizio TV. It is on bedroom and living room. They are great. I have them for couple of years. Mine is 32" and 37". No sign of problem or else. I brought them at Sam Club. I heard it is now stock at Wal-mart too.

Don't spend money on an expensive HDMI cord. If you want the HDMI get a cheap one or component cords.

Definitely shop for prices online.
Many stores charge way different prices for the same tv.
We have this one on our porch, for when we have guest or parties when can play sporting events or whatever.
It has a sick picture!!!

I've seen alot of discussion with electronics over at clubgp.
Get your cables at monoprice.com and other goodies.
They have a huge huge huge markup on those HDMI cables from local stores.

1080 vs. others article clubgp

I don't agree with the Best Buy statement. Thats often where you'll find a good deal, especially if you want some no-interest credit for a while. The example given isn't every TV they sell, but he's right... you have to look around at comparable models and other stores to make sure you're not getting shafted.

Funny thing though... those $80-90 HDMI cords best buy sells cost them less than $8.

For what you're looking to get, though, your best bet IMO is tigerdirect.com or newegg.com.
I was in your shoes 3 years ago and got a 32" 720p from tigerdirect for under $750... good for the time.

Bought my Vizio (no longer have due to break-in) through Tigerdirect. It was a 32 inch and I paid about $450 for it. Sweet digital picture for the price. Analog pictures weren't as nice...but you won't need to worry about that in a few months. smile

I used to LOVE Best Buy when I was in high school. But now with the proliferation of the internet, I can ALWAYS find a better deal elsewhere.

My TV, computer hardware, my digital SLR camera, my video camera...all things I researched at Best Buy, but found better prices elsewhere.

I have a Samsung 720p 52" in my room.
I like it, I wish wash 1080, but isn't. Still looks amazing.
I think Samsung little more pricey than others, but I like them.

Did you read my post about the Samsung, above?

This is the one I am sporting in the bedroom. However, I paid $2,500+ for it a year and half ago!

What about this Vizio?

Vizio 42"

And the only reason its through Dell is because they have a deal on it right now and i get a discount on top of the sale.

Looks good. did you read the reviews. I would do that and then go for it. Also check out reviews on Vizio itself.
