Ok everyone time to put on your thinking caps.

I am currently borrowing my mothers Mitsubishi Galant ES with the 16v 4 cyl. It runs smooth plenty of get up (for a small 4) but here's the deal when in D whith the car idling and the brake on the car vibrates something fierce. Put it in N and everything smooths out. No SES light (code reader at home no time to go to AZ) Accell is fine everything else is fine just the bad shudder while idling in gear. Any guesses? The car does have 157k on it so I was thinking maybe motor mounts but once in N no issues.

I'm far from the most technical person on here, but could it be a tranny mount?

I'm just thinking if the motor is in neutral and it's fine, then when it engages the tranny the vibration occurs...seems like it's a tranny issue....

Just thinking out loud...

i has more power then it can handle. devilgrin

but it sounds like the motor mounts or the tranny isn't releasing 1st want to move forward even though the break is engaged.

Pop the hood, get in the car, peek through the hood and watch the motor as you go thru the gears from reverse to drive. If the motor moves excessively, you need motor/tranny mounts.

Could also be a low idle, but probably not

mounts or some kind of issue with the tranny. I would suggest looking for a Mitsu message board or just take it to the $tealer$hip

I was thinking mounts as well. I'll take a look at the tranny mount.

I'd offer some advice, but my Strat has a 5spd. Check out a Galant forum, or if you run dry hit up the club3g.com forums. Even though they're Eclipses, they share the same trannies/engines.
