Hey I got a buddy who's got a 1999 BMW 328i Convertible, it threw a code today and we took it to Autozone to get it scanned and P0441 came up. Something about a vac leak I think. We checked the gas cap and it was on snug. Any ideas on the problem?

http://bmwboard.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14339&goto=nextnewest EDIT: This is all I could find. Check the rubber seals on your gas cap.

Thanks Richard. Probably should have looked for something like that myself but oh well. The gas cap was on tight when it was scanned but I'll have him check the rubber seal. Thanks.

If he got fuel while the car was running, it would trip the same code.

The guy at AutoZone said everything on the cap was good but I think I might take a look at it tomorrow just in case. And I don't think he would fill a car with gas while it's running. Any other ideas? Thanks for the other suggestion by the way.

I found this website -> http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=808318 Basically...someone who had that same problem ended up replacing the valve that controls the canister flow. Hope this helps

Thanks Caesar. The SES light went off the other day so I think it might have been the gas cap seal but if it comes back on again we'll check out that canister flow. Thanks for all the help guys.
