It might just be that I never grew up in the original era, but I really prefer TNG-era.

IMO, best actors (Patrick Stewart ftw!), best ships (Enterprise E is a beast), and best movies (First Contact, Insurrection, and Nemesis).

It's not to say that the other Star Treks are bad, far far from it. I just don't find them as good as TNG. Voyager is a close second though. I kinda like DS9 too.

I saw the new trailer for the film while watching Terminator;The Sarah Connor Chronicles monday nite...my son called immediately and said "Dad, Star Trek has never been bad azz until now!"

I had heard quite some time back that this was to be a prequel and I had my serious reservations. How do you play James Kirk without making a parody of William Shatner? I hope it doesnt turn out to be bad comedy. The trailer looks potent though...cant hardly wait

Voyager?

I liked the overall storyline of Voyager but the only thing that kept me going back was are they getting home?

Loved TNG, DS9 grew on me, Enterprise was just awful. Original enjoyed it even for as campy as it was.

My guess is from the looks of the trailer there won't be the William Shatner style of dialog.

Zachary Quinto looks so much like the young Leonard Nimoy its just plain scary. The guy playing Kirk doesnt resemble Shatner somuch but he does look like he is spilling over with attitude, which is essentially the goal I would think.
I think the orginal Trek was huge breakthrough considering its time and flimsy budget. TNG was shaky at first but really came into its own as it progressed. To me Voyager and DS9 were both good later in their respective life spans (DS9 especially after Worf arrived)
'Enterprise" first season left a lot to be desired (except Jolene Blalock was massive eye candy) the second season with its overview story of the "expanse mission" grew weary but seasons 3 and 4 finally turned in some quality shows.

I've heard about this new film for quite some time but this trailer has really got me looking forward to it now.

It looks pretty good to me, I've been waiting for a new Star Trek movie.
