I moved at the wrong time of year. Next year I plan on getting out there and trying for a deer. Supposed to be some good pig huntin here to. I'll have to look into that.

This one did jump out in front of me. I had been sitting around in subzero weather for three hours. Saw two does and nothing else. My toes were freezing and I was calling it quits for the morning, so I started climbing the hill out of there.

Toward a bend at the top, I heard twigs cracking and saw movement and got the gun ready. This deer pops out behind some brush and peeks around a pine tree to see what I was. That was pretty much all he wrote.

I called my brother-in-law to get the atv and wagon for carrying him out. He said "meet me at the top of the hill." I said, "I'm already there." That young buck saved me from having to pack him a good distance up steep terrain.

I'll head back over there Tuesday perhaps, see if I can bag a doe for my remaining bag limit. I can't wait to get some jerky. I know we just about filled the whole freezer side of the fridge with him. I might have to buy a separate freezer if I get another.
