I was doing some reading online tonight and came across some interesting info on the new bat-ride. Aside from the fact that it is still as butt-ugly as they come, it seems the studio sunk some serious money for this hardware. To the tune of 1.7 million bucks! Four "Tumblers" were built, all working and driveable units. I'm guessing the most fully functional model was the one they were making reference to in this particular article. A true dual engine machine, sporting both a 500hp chevy small block for primary power and a jet turbine used in helicopters for high speed blasting. They say it has a theoretical top speed of 220mph, which I question a bit since it weighs almost 4500lbs, but then again if these exhibition jet trucks can run over 200 in the 1/4 mile I suppose this could do it as well. One of the set stunt drivers was quoted as saying "it was one of the fastest cars he had ever driven" I respect Christopher Nolans' realism approach to this film and I realize the "Tumbler" is supposed to be a rejected military prototype, but it still doesnt change the fact that its more homely to look at than a wrecked Aztek. In any other movie they always crush or blow up the heros' car. here's hoping the same fate will befall the Tumbler before the curtain drops on this one...cuz there's no way that sucker will ever live up to the line "chicks dig the car"

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. no I have to admit there are more than a few Bat-fans out there who scare me (whatever happened to the classy side of Bruce Wayne with these guys?)

I love the tint job on the rear window. Must have costed a good chunk of coin for it.
