Even the GSX line are considered sport bikes. Granted they are not the "fastest". The GSXRs are more race oriented then the standard GSXs. For example

Your logic is working like this a camaro ss is just a fast grocery getter but the standard V-8 powered camaro is a sports car.

Thats what Suzuki considers the standardized GSX-R. The Katana doesnt fall under the Standardized, Should be under the "Failure" Catg.. And the Gsx-1300-r falls under Sport Touring.

Here's an easy way to handle this: Don't buy a Suzuki. Try a nice Honda.
