Does anyone else have to stand like 3-4 feet away from their car in order for the keyfob to unlock/lock the doors?? It doesn't really make any sense because I could just as easily slide my key in the hole and unlock it that way. Is there any way to make it get a better range??

I've tried changing the battery, it makes no difference. Sounds like maybe you have an aftermarket keyfob, since you have a starter and a REAL alarm.

I have the original key fob and I'm good from 40-50 feet assuming there is no car between me and mine.

Mines good up to maybe 30 feet? I'll prolly change the battery soon to see if I can get better distance.

Which reminds me, I need a new battery for my garage door opener... I'm almost to the driveway before it works... It always used to work from like a block away

Mine doesn't work at all since I got the car. Replaced the battery and still nothing. Haven't gotten around to checking the components on the car, but something is loose or broke (maybe even the remote). Anyone got some tips?

Mine works anywhere from about 20-40 feet, depending on what's between my car and the keyfob.

Hello,

I've read somewhere that the antennae for the security system can be the culprit...It's supposed to run up one of the A-pillars, and I've heard of instances where it doesn't.....I would suggest doing a search for your problem, if you can't find it in this forum, you will find it at the other.

Later now,
Clint

I can get 40 ft sometimes a bit more. The antenna on mine is located in the middle of the windshield behind the rearview mirror.

I have problems opening my trunk when I am standind behind the car. Other than that I would have to say the furthest I have been is about 15 feet and it took a couple tries.

i have a 2001 gt and my keyfob seems to me like it works good when it wants to work good. sometimes it works from 30 feet sometimes it wont work until 15 feet. i dunno the battery if new from the dealership so i dunno. I think its grand prixs in general, they arent programmed to work lock/unlock from a great distance. My mom had a 1999 Bonneville and i swear that would work from over 100ft away it was amazing.
