Hey guyz I have my stick 16in rims in my car and I wanted to leave them on, but I want to run drag radials on the front. I went to the tire shop and they said they only knew of one drag radial that was for a 16in rim and it was mostly for camaro applications. Are there any drag radials out there that will work with my stock rims. It is for my 2001 GTP.
thanks for replys

I dont know if this makes a difference but I dont have the torque stars. I have the alloy wheels with the three large spokes. Im not sure what they are called but im sure you know which ones they are.

The reason he said they were mostly for camaro applications is because they are 245 50 16s and the tire shop I went to said they would most likely rub on the struts? and would rub other places as well.

Nope. I run 245 50 16s on my torque stars.

Anyone tried running 225/50/16s? A little lower profile than the stock 225/60/16s, how would this affect handling?

i had a set of hooser drag slicks, kinda shoot myself for basicly giving them away, they worked great hooked up wonderfuly, but with all slicks its all about tire prep/burnout/track prep they i cant remember the size of the slicks but i know they were like 9.5 wide they worked amazing

its worth the extra to go and get a spare set of rims with streight slicks on them becuase with DR you still limit your options

Go with the Nitto 555 dr's ,they handle as good as any street tire the only thing is if you put on a lot of miles they wear quickly ,you can run a 245x50x16's on stock rims but it not ideal you would get better performance out of this tire with a wider rim at least a 7" rim stock is 6 1/2" wide ,I run Nitto's year round 275X40X17" on 9" wide rims .Chico(pops)

I agree that for a DD they wear pretty quick but not so bad as you may suspect ,I managed to get about 10000 miles on a pair on the vette compared to say 15000 on a pair of comp g's ,as far as slicks good choice for track only but definately a transmission killer.Chico(pops)
