I have to say its a neat concept but I think it wouldn't be that attractive. I mean helicopters at least from what I know about them have to refuel not long after they take off (maybe a few hours) and its a whole diffrent ball game then cruise ships because your going against gravity.

Why a helicopter? I mean come on lighter then air would rule in this aspect. As a matter of fact iirc I saw an episode on blimps and they were saying a company in europe was building a Zepplin sized blimp again and using it like an ocean liner like back in the day.

Hydrogen wasn't the problem last time lol. It was the aluminized coating that sent it burning so fast.

Interesting, didn't realize that.

edit: I didn't believe H would play no part initially, and I found evidence to back up my suspicion. Here is an article from a very pro-hydrogen source saying the skin was to blame: http://www.hydrogenus.com/advocate/ad22zepp.htm

Here is an article from a much more trustworthy source IMO. http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/investigations/q0277.shtml

I don't have a link but Myth-Busters tested it as well and came up with the skin was the biggest factor as well.

lol, I enjoy mythbusters, but I certainly wouldn't call their tests scientific.

In addition, their test busted the skin as the leading cause, so if you are bound and determined to trust the mythbusters...
