My dad has the 30g and I the 60g. Well I set the thing to shuffle and every day we play it while we work. Well it seems to play the same songs over again, and there are plenty to shuffle through. How do I get it to play randomly and not the same few songs. Do I have to hit shuffle every time I turn it on, because we just turn it on and it begins to play.

On mine, if I turn it off, and then on I believe I have to press shuffle again.

I notice that it definetely hits on some artists that I have 100's of songs for. I always get Dave Matthews, Barnaked Ladies, Joe Satriani, or (definietly not a compaint) Aerosmith.

can a USB port be installed to hook the iPod up to the factory stereo?...and if so does the steering wheel controls have any effect besides volume?...this concept of taking my entire music library on vacation sounds pretty cool.

if you get an aftermarket cd player, you can get a cord where you plug the ipod right into the unit... i can control my ipod using the stereo controls... otherwise i think, and i could be wrong, only an fm transmitter can be used, unless you have a casette player, then you use a casette setup...

Supposedly it can be done, but it is quite the expense, and for that expense you can get a nice cd player installed and just plug and play the ipod. Isn't worth the money or hassle to keep the factory in for that.

If you had an 2004 or 2005 Grand Prix you could get a plug and play unit that would use your steering wheel controls. I bought one for my wife's minivan and it works well...and the song title shows on the LCD of the radio via RDS. It plugs into the CD changer/Sirius satellite radio connection in the back of the radio.

I saw one online that works with Grand Ams from 96-02, but not the GPs. I don't know what the differences are though.

If your car came with a cd changer or at least ready for a cd changer this link should work for you -> http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=gm9-aux

I wouldnt mind stepping up to a nicer head unit...maybe even one with a nav screen($$$ eek ) as long as I could find one that has the red lighting to match the rest of the instrument panel.
I had a friend of mine at work that went to the next best thing, he recorded a monster amount of music onto a DVD...then got head unit that was compatible and plays disc instead of cd's.he says the storage for music files is huge. Nothing like the iPod I'm sure but it did seemlike a cool option.
