I had my exhaust system put on not to long ago and now when i get over 50 mph it makes this vibrating sound. It only does it when it get up around higher speeds. I also just moved to Florida from ohio and i drove down here. I dont know if its actually my exhaust or something else. It sounds like something is vibrating in the front end and its kinda loud inside the car. Has anyone else had or heard of anything like this?

Check all your heat shields you might have a loose one.

What is the easiest way to check it and what am i looking for exactly?

Its better described as a loud humming sound and it only seems to do it when im over 50 mph or thats when its the most noticeable. I can really tell when its idiling.

You'll have to look under the car. Look along your exhaust and see if anything looks like it could rub on the exhaust.

There doesnt seem to be anything touching the exhaust and it doesnt make that noise when i rev it up only when im actually driving.

That sounds like cabin drone, often resulting from aftermarket exhaust on the GP. What kind of exhaust did you have put on? Do you have a resonator?

I had the SLP Performance Parts Power-Flo Exhaust Systems put on and everything came with it. I just noticed this recently. Its been on maybe a little over a month now. They said it was supposed to be stainless steel but the whole thing is rusted already

Is the sound speed related or rpm related?

Im not really sure i think its speed though because i noticed it the most when im over 50 and let off the gas. It actually vibrates the inside of the car a little bit.

Next time when you get it to repeat put the trans in neuteral and let the motor idle down and let the car coast. If the noise goes away it's engine related if it stays its chassis related.

Yeah it makes the noise when its just idling and in nuetral.

So I take it the sound is while driving down the road. If that's the case I would suspect a bad wheel bearing.

Yes it is driving down the road. Do you know how much a bearing would cost?

I just looked at my mechanics receipt he wrote before i left ohio(moved to florida) and he did say that the right front bearing was going bad.

A new hub will run you about $150. If you take it to a shop expect them to charge you about two hours labor. Labor rates now adays run 60-90 an hour.
