Military wise they compare with the Navy. Keep in mind USCG cutters do deploy around the world. They do have similar jobs as the Navy from chipping rust to flying airplanes. But they do operate on a much smaller budget and have fewer jobs as a result.

All the services have their quirks but it comes from what job they perform. They all have different ideas and you make it what you want it to be.

Not sure what other kind of info your lookin for.

I attacked their website and found different ways of getting involved.
Either it be professional, administrative, civilian, reserves, enlisted, officers, etc.
Being I have a degree, I believe that should help me out.
I'd prefer not to enter the enlisted or go that route. But I like the benefits of military and the pay.
What would your friend suggest for someone interested with a degree.

I've been looking into the military as well. I went to the Police Academy, and have a year to find a job as a police officer before my certification expires. If I don't find a job, I'm going to join and go to officer school. I don't know what branch, or whether I would go active or reserve, but I know the benefits of having military training under my belt would be great. Plus, now they have huge bonuses for signing up.

Yall are WAY outta my area. If you have any questions on what the Army is like: 1-877-414-1310. I'd be happy to answer your questions about the Army.

Things to think about before disregarding the Army:

We are the biggest branch and operate on the biggest budget

Promotions are WAY quicker than any other branch

All college programs are the same

All branches get paid the same, not counting bonuses

All services get the same GI Bill

All services deploy

Very few service members are hunter-killers. Most jobs are supporting those hunter-killers

The Air Force is down-sizing all personnel

Anything else: gimme a call on that toll-free phone number or find your local recruiter.

Yah I am not into the whole straight out of highschool gig. I'm looking for more of advance positions or something that isn't combat oriented.

I'd definately go the Officer route. A degree in hand helps but I'm not sure how they go about recruiting for Officers as much as you dislike the idea of a recruiter hit em up they'll tell you what steps are involved. Then you can come back here and ask if the info is on the up and up.
