I really do hope so, spent many hours cleaning and buying supplies only to find out my camera wasn't high enough quality. Hope I can have a retry this year:D

The only reason you didn't get on the calendar last year is because you didn't submit an entry.

Here's a copy of the rules from last year...

Official Calendar Pic Entry Rules
1) Only one pic per entrant shall be submitted.
2) Pic should contain only your Grand Prix. Do not submit your pic if there are any other cars in it, that includes deep in the back ground. No group shots and no partial pics of your Grand Prix.
3) You must be the current owner of the Grand Prix at the time of print.
4) No people should be included in the pic, that includes deep in the back ground.
5) No license plates, dealer plates or any sexually suggestive material shall be displayed.
6) Calendar worthy pics only. Any non calendar worthy pic submitted will be rejected before voting begins.
7) No Photoshop or any other photo editing software enhancements, other than lighting correction.
8) All pics must be taken using no less than a high quality (300dpi) 5 megapixel size. This will insure a good quality pic on the calendar.

A little more to add

9) The rules are the rules
10) There are no gray areas
11) Do not try to find loopholes
12) Do not submit a pic that isn't in compliance and try to talk your way past the rules.
13) Do not complain about the rules. If you don't like them then don't participate. Easy enough.

Did you guys add the screenames/real names of the people that owned the car on the picture? Or was it just the picture and that's it?

Just saw that thread 1st time since I'm super busy at work past month.

That's good thing I already took some good pictures before my car torn apart. It is sitting for 4 weeks for now. frown

Anyway, I'm curious about that rule. What is about HDR? Can I use that?

Example of before/after pictures.

No HDR picture

HDR picture

I thought HDR look cool.

HDR is photo editing.

Edit: Palsut, what program did you use to do HDR? Everything I find (that is free) puts a watermark in it.

Good point. Never thought about that.

Actually this guy from gpona.com make the thread for ask every members if they are interesting to make their photo as HBR. I email to him for get my picture as HDR.

I copy and paste from other site for what he use that program.

I use Photoshop 7.0 and Photomatrix 3.1

I'm not sure if it is free or not. I never use them before.

What is the difference between the two? It looks like just a lighting edit, which is allowed.

That's what I thought. I thought we are not allow to photo chop like remove trash can behind my car or smooth the hood line like Randy did to his scoop hood last year.

As you can see both picture are never photo chop. Mostly, it was lighting change. Well, that's up to Hercman or AustinGTP if they are okay with that or not. I thought it is kind cool to have HDR look like it was from "pro" picture.

Well, one of them should chime in shortly. If not, PM them the pics and see what they say. I think it'll be ok.

To me it looks like the lighting and contrast were optimized. However if I had never seen the original I wouldn't notice. I'd say it's fine.

You have to keep in mind the intent of the rule. It's too keep people from "doctoring" up their rides into something they aren't or in a special background or trying to hide that trash can etc.

We're not trying to find the best photographers so...

HDR = High Dynamic Range lighting. It's nothing more than lighting correction.

Actually, seeing that lighting correction is allowed, this year if anybody needs a little lighting work done on a photo, e-mail it to me. Photoshop CS3 is great for little stuff like that.

And I guess if I pull my wiper arms off and just wash the car real good, I might actually make it into the calender...

I guess HDR is kind of a loophole/gray area. It is taking 3 pictures and optimizing the lighting from them.

I have a question.

What about just an engine bay shot?

It's not a full car shot I guess but I thought i'd ask anyways.

Just wondering is all.

Umm lets think about that. Ask yourself is there a border of background and foreground around the car? Does any part of the car leave the frame of the picture?

The rules are clear don't try to interpret them.

As for deadline I think we're using the same as last year.
