I have been looking at Flowmaster 40 mufflers for my grand prix gt. I am wondering if anybody knows how much louder a straight pipe is than these mufflers. My buddy has a straight pipe and i am looking for something not as loud. Let me know what you think thanks

Well they'll definitely be quieter. Will still have quite a bit of droan as they call it in the car when driving. Becomes annoying quickly.

If you youtube it then you should get a few hits. FM40's are quite popular on w-bodies.

Yeah i figured they would still drone. I dont mind my friends car noise and he has no mufflers so this must be better than that.

Leave the resonator on. It's not restrictive and makes the exhaust sound better IMO, kills some of the raspy-ness and droan.

Had flow 40s on mine. Sounded goods at idle but the drone got annoying. I have since gone back to stock.

LOL yeah I know the title of the video says that but tons of videos dont sound anything like the car.

I was planning on keeping the resonator on. Everything will be stock besides the flowmaster 40's.
