i was talkin bout this and a few suggestions ive heard is that if you get pulled over by a cop, roll all your windows down right away so they won't just catch it and hopefully just give you a warning if they do

That's not a bad idea regardless of whether or not the tint is illegal. It shows them there's no one hiding in the back seat. If you have dark windows, they can't see if there is a threat back there or not. Just another small thing you can do to show submission, and hopefully get off with a warning. smile

never thought of that. next time I get pulled over, if the kids are in the car, and the weather is nice, I just might do that. As it is, I already turn the dome lights on at night.

So DON'T get ammonia. What kind should I get? I'm not doing the work. A local shop is, and I've seen some of there work, and fine with them doing my car. I would also like to know what is the one that blocks heat, and sun uv rays?

I know a cop, and he has a red GTP, and I'm sure his tint is 5%. Plus he said if I were to get a ticket, or warning. He would sign off on it. So I'm good.
What a load of bull. Nothing like a crooked cop.

I don't seen him as being a bad cop. He's actually a really nice guy. I've known him for at least 8yrs, and he's helped me out in the past with other stuff. Yes, signing off any ticket or warning is a little odd. But he said it himself "I have DARK tint on my Gtp, and I will never get a ticket for that" soooo yeah

Ammonia? Just don't clean them with ammonia-based solvents.

As for tint, avoid the dyed stuff. Most lifetime tints are good.

Maybe the kids would get you a little sympathy. laugh

But turning the dome light on was a good idea.

Hahaha thanks for the corrections rook.

Should I worry about a shop doing my tint job?

Find a reputable shop, price-shopping isn't a good idea with tint, but don't let a shop rape you either. Lucky for me, I have a co-worker that used to do tint for a living and now he does it in his spare time. If that wasn't enough, we have a tint shop next door and the two guys that run it are great and regular customers. smile

Windex has ammonia in it. All I use is paper towels and water. If I need something stronger, I use the SafeLite window cleaner.

Which cleaner? The one that comes in a tall can and sprays out into a foam. But water works just fine for smeared fast food grease, milk, and hand oils.
