Pontiac had a lot of problems with the government in getting safety approvals for the GTO. The twin scoop hood couldn't be added until 2005 because the Feds needed over a year to "study it." Though you would assume that with the Gas Guzzler tax on the GTO, they would just go for broke and max it out. The GTO is a disappointment. Just build the F-body's again....Trans-Am.....the Muscle Car lives.

F-body: They won't because it didn't sell anymore
Its going to come back in 08-09 with a new style.

Max-out: It still needed to be practical so they can sell a lot. If it reduced the MPG to 14 and put in 600 hp, noone could the insurance and it would outrank the flagship, the corvette.
