Hello everybody My Grand Prix Gt 97, moves like when taking a curve and hit a hole, even driving forward, when passing trough irregular asphalt, i've checked suspension and struts and nothing appears, could you tell me your experiences? I've noticed the problem is in the back suspension.
Alex

Did you check your sway bar brackets?
Make sure the endlinks on those aren't broken. If they are - they can cause a floaty boat feeling.

You might also want to check to see if your struts are worn out. How many miles are on the car and what kind of driving has it endured? Also, what size and kind of tires are you running? Over sized tires have a tendency to wander a bit due to irregularities in the road surface.

Thanks everybody,
It's the first time i have more choices than just a "it has nothing" from the mechanic, since here in Mexico there are any Grand Prix enthusiastic group, or something like that. And as Chew said it feels exactly like a boaty float, and i even check my car from another while driving to see if it runs straight, and it does.
Thanks again, and I'll keep on writing my car's pains.
Alex from Mexico City.

The car has 77000 miles, the tires are Michelin X 225/60/16, they are like the original ones. What size of tires could be over sized?
Thanks
Alex

Alex I agree with HercMan. Change the struts and I think you'll notice an improvement. As far as oversized goes... I'm referring to 17" rims and above, especially when you're using tires in the 245 or 255/45 series or even a lower profile. The fact that the tires are so wide (relative to the stock size), they have a tendancy to grip irregularities in the road surface. This kind of gives you the feeling that the tires are following small ruts in the road and wanders a bit. I'm currently running Bridgestone RE730's (255/45 ZR17's) and experience a little wandering from time to time. But... they handle awesome on clean road surfaces! Marc

Thanks,
I've changed the struts 5 months ago, and yesterday took them for warranty, they changed the rear ones and the problem disapeared. You were right!
Regards.

Even with the 225/60/16 the car is very awesome in clean surfaces, but here in Mexico city...the asphalt is very damaged, and the repairs on it, are like scares, so cars suspension not last too much as new.
Someone of you know what is the size of wheels the silver GP of the month in the page has?
Alex
