Dudes I think I found how to stroke the 3800 to a 4.1L

http://www.autocarepronews.com/default.aspx?type=art&id=87714&sid=214211&iid=5755&stid=0

in 1980 Buick stroked it and sold it.

"1980 — Larger 4.1L version of 3.8L engine offered with bigger 3.965” pistons. "

I bet if you can find a replacement crank for those motors...

It may be possible to use this crank but it would'nt be quite that simple ,first off you are dealing with a different block height in this series of 3.8 ,but you may have something there I would like to get hold of an older 4.1 an see for myself if the application would be practical,we know ZZP uses an existing GM crank (but which one)also COME racing from OZ build a stroker kit using a GM crank ,if you come across a Junk Yard 4.1 grab it.Chico(pops)

Since they never say which crank or what they do to it to acheive the "stroke" I can only assume this is the crank they use. That would explain why their kit has been out of stock for so long cause they maybe hard to come by.

I am trying to locate a 4.1 crankshaft, on that site they said it was in a 3.8 block. I am looking for a 3.8 block that i can use to build a motor, and maybe stroke it along with some other power adders

I'd say you'd have to compare rod and piston hight from the factory 4.1 to those of the L32/L67/L36 and see if they are the same. Plus what size on the journals and what not. I don't expect a drop in but it would be a starting point. Cause for the stroke you need a larger throw crank and this one fits the bill.

While it may sound like a good idea let me warn you this endevure will require some custom work and carefull measurements,I'm not trying to scare you off just be prepared and do your research and become friendly with a good machinist, good luck .Chico(pops)
