Mobil 1, and went with a Mobil 1 filter this time instead of Fram.
I've never heard of Royal Purple until I found this site.

I run the cheapest synthetic I can find. Since Pep Boys closed here, I normally use Walmart's house brand SuperTech 5W-30 synthetic which is $18 for a 5QT jug. Pep Boys always ran rebate deals. The Super Tech's API service ratings match my car's requirements. The Mobil 1 right next to it shares these ratings. If you have a problem with this oil. They sell 5 Qts of Quaker State for $24 and 4 Qts of Mobil 1 for $24. You know Walmart contracrs out with some big oil company to make this synthetic. You never know if it is Valvoline, Quaker State, Penzoil etc. I run the longer Puralator filter and change at 7500 or before if I will hit 7500 on a trip. I check my oil and top it off when it is lower than 1/2 on the dip stick. On average, I add 1/2 a qt in my 7,500 miles. My car has 129K.
My 04 Monte & 03 Motorcycle get Amsoil, but I bought them new and plan to keep them a long time.
My Chevelle get 15W-40 Rotella synthetic because of it's high Zinc content to keep my flat tappet camshaft in good shape.

walmart supertech. OR Napa brand oil. whatever is cheaper!
if a local parts store is running a rebate, I would go that route too.
oil HAS to meet certain specifications, so why drain the wallet on the high dollar stuff?

On the filter, I don't know the number of the purolator one, but I use the same longer filter on my GP as is spec'd on my 2001 4wd GMC Jimmy, so you can just look that one up in the parts store book.

Castrol GTX here too. I do too much city driving to use synthetic.
