Most factory amps are weak. I think the Infinity amp in the my Stratus' 7-speaker system is something like 125w. Get something in the 200s and you'll be fine.
Also, loudness isn't the word for talking about amps. You control that. The amp just boosts the signal for clarity at higher volumes. More wattage = higher volume without distortion.

your factory amp cant run your door speakers plus subs. you need to look at what the max watt's for your subs are and look at the rms watts for your subs and then buy an amp that will work with everything but nomater what you are going to have to buy an aftermarket amp

oh no man i just want to boost the door speakers up with a new amp i already have subs runnin. i just want to be able to hear the words over the subs, and turning the gain down is out of the question lol. i understand watts mean nothing i was just wondering where the factory amp stands. my mtx 300w sounds the same as the 1200w sony i had.

ive got infinity's in the door and rear deck. i have to run new wires to one speaker so i figure i might as well do all of them when it gets warm. and if im gonna do that i might as well spend a few bucks and get a better amp for better sound.

what about an aftermarket headunit do you have one of those?? and the good thing about infinity is they have great highs and mids but if you have an aftermarket headunit see if they have speaker outputs rca on the back if so get a 4way rca cable and then you would have to get a 4channel amp mount it and run the wires with the amps wireing guide but you will want to get a 400 + amp because you have to figure 400/4= 100 watts to each speaker at thats max it will be less for RMS watts ... but if thats enough for you?? then thats good
