the PCM is designed to with stand most weather situations. Some guys go to extreme measures to hide it. Others simply zip tie it to the fender or the stock air box mount. The the total time should be no more then 1/2 hour unless your gettin fancy. As far as a plate goes, some aftermarket CAI have a PCM tray built in, some places offer a tray (ZZ performance)..., check around ..you can also make your own.

PCM swap could take as little as 15 min.

Unhook your battery
Take apart your OEM airbox (PCM inside)
use a ratchet to losen the two "bolts" that hold the cables to the PCM
swap PCM and reverse the process.

I've done it enough times I'm probably down to 2 minutes laugh
no stock airbox in the way, though.

Don't worry about the fenderwell hole. Air = good. Water won't make it too far up there.

I hear ya on the 2 minute thing. I have a PCM tray too, so no zip ties to mess with. Just unhook the clip, remove the wires. Bam. Done. cheers
