This may sound like a newbie question (and frankly probably is), but I was wondering if the benefits of an intercooler outweigh it's expense. As of right now I plan on spending more time beating rice burners and mustangs on the street than at the track. Thanks for the help.

p.s. right now i am using a 3.4 in pulley, slp c.a.i. with a borla cat back on order. considering NOS if I don't get the intercooler.

An intercooler is probably one of the best things you can get, after a pulley.

Can anyone recommend a good intercooler? I have not even seen any out there!

There are two out there. Thrasher has one, and ZZP is releasing theirs later this week.

I'm planning on getting ZZPs, due to the price difference. $1400 is too much for me to spend. So is $1,000, but its worth it IMO.

What is cooled with an intercooler?

Transmission fluid? If so, why not just change the fluid way more frequently - like every oil change. I use a one-gallon glass jug and flexible tubing to suck about 6 quarts of transmission fluid out via the dip-stick tube. Every time I change out 6 quarts, the transmission acts smoother even if it wasn't acting up before.

Engine oil? If it's getting that hot, I go to running 20W-50 or straight 40wt for the added protection it would provide under heated conditions.

You can buy a LOT of fresh oil or transmission fluid for $1000 and be better off for using it.

The aircharge into the engine. It goes between the s/c and the engine block.
