well actually I gave my GT a heads up, display that is...

this is a shot after I did the initial tracing of the HUD cover, and then the second line about an inch from that. I removed the skin of the dash and the foam, and this was taken right after that point.

This is a shot where the cluster normally is, those 3 slots are where the HUD cover clips into, once you remove some foam.

This was the initial line I cut out to get the HUD unit in place, I still had some more trimming to do, but its better to cut twice (or more) than to cut too much the first try. (thank goodness for the dremel tool, I used the "reinforced cutting disc")

This is just after cutting out that line drawn.

View from where the cluster sits.

Initial trial fit, this is when I discovered I had a bit more trimming to do.

Still in trial fit stage.

I opted to put the HUD switch on the left side of the steering, I had to fully wire the HUD since the plugs were not in the dash, so it was a great opportunity to just put the switch on that side.

I now every time I see a post about adding the HUD, they say you do not need to put in the 2 front screws, just the clips are fine. But I opted to put the screws in as well, I think it will be more secure and hopefully minimize any movement. It took a a few seconds each to get the extra screw clips in place.

Nice job! When I torn my dashboard and gauge off for paint job pretty soon. I see some hole snap thing for clips from HUD that my SE model do have them but I don't need it since I have gauge to look the speed.

the install was not very long. I want to say 3 hours, and that was taking my time, and the extra time was due to no connectors, so I had to wire it all in.

the dremel is your friend, but its still best to just go slow with it and do it right the first time, and I was never concerned about hitting the windshield since I took the extra time.

as I mentioned I had to trim it a few times before everything fit just right.

This is actually my 2nd HUD install, I put a HUD in my 2nd 97 GT, but it had all the connectors.

And everything works, only issue I have is after a few hours, the hud went blank, but if I moved the DIM up and down it came back on. So I am not sure why that is happening, but I assume it is something to do with the light sensor, I know those have issues sometimes.

other than that everything works as it should, signals pop up, speed (of course), radio station, low fuel. etc. it all works.

if you look really hard you can see the HUD display on the window, I guess I should have done a pic without the flash.

How hard is it to wire up if the connections are not there? Do you have the wiring diagrams?

It is not too hard, I can certainly get you a user friendly cheat sheet to follow if you'd like.
