After doing a lot of research on rotor coatings here is what I have found ,according to experts the coating does little or nothing except quiet rotor slap,Steigemier porting one of the leaders in eaton porting for performance has this to say if the coating is black it is a teflon coating and flaking will not do any damage but if the coating is grey(painted) and has started to flake he recommends removing all the coating this will have no effect on performance and reduce the chance of damage from the flakes being injested.I can say I have tried a few coating processes and found with new coating compared to bare rotors there is very little difference in boost levels ,so you guys with bare rotors do'nt sweat it and if you have chipping gray coating remove it,I did get a nice used set of coated rotors that were a little dirty I tried cleaning them with varsal and the coating just softened and fell off! so if you find a set with dirty rotors do not clean with a petroleum based solvent just clean with soap and warm water or just leave them,if you get a chance take a look at Steigemeir's site and look at the style of porting he uses.Chico(pops)
