Ok the tranny thing. I've read other post on whining and tranny but none seem to address the issue I'm having.
It's been whining off and on for a couple of years now but getting worse. sometimes it's starts out whining and by time I hit second gear it fades and goes away and all is good. Lately it has stayed and I notice that when it's in it's whining mode the tranny shifts harder like a shift kit would make the muscle cars of the 80's do. when I shut the motor off I can smell tranny fluid. No leaks and is full. when I restart after it has cooled off then it's gone and shifts normal. any ideas?

Ive heard a bad filter could cause a tranny to whine.

IIRC ChrisGT had an issue with whining, and mentioned it could be the filter.

check fluid and smell. it should be pink and smell like a srtong chemical

ok......fluid is not pick and smells burnt. Guess I need to get a tranny service
