ive got a 2000 GT im looking into getting a GTP. i was wondering if anyone knew what the difference was that gives the newer SC grand prixs 20 extra HP. smaller factory pulleys? im thinking i will probably just get a 2001 GTP ive been looking at, its navy blue and has 48K for i think 9800. but im sure the sales man can fiond a lower price

No stinkin' U-bend on the newer models.

so what is the purpose of the U-Bend on the older models??? just to rob HP?

I think the U-Bend was a spot in the exhaust where it was shrunk and bent so GM could fit an O2 sensor in the exhaust without interference with anything else under the car. But it turned out to be the most restrictive place in the exhaust system.

basically i was just trying to decide which way to go... a 2004 or a 2001 GTP i think im going to go for the 2001 and get a 3" downpipe

I agree with herc, Gm is known for doing things like that.

Good choice ,and yes the additional 20hp is due to more efficiant blower but as Herc noted the more aggresive TM will actually make you a bit slower in the 1/4 ,I do'nt know what the 04 gp's are like but in my GTO with the TC on it will literally push the gas pedal back up with some force as soon as it senses any wheel spin,the good thing on the GTO you can turn TC off.Chico.
