I wanted to know if it possible to switch 98 or newer GTP Trip DIC in place of a stock 97 DIC control, just to make it clearer i have a 97 gt

no. '97's are different. Can only be switched with anotehr '97.

ok if i switch to a 97 gtp trip dic, which one should i get, the 1st or 2nd design, not sure but i think the second one might have the traction control button, could be wrong, if not does anyone know how i can make a switch to control this feature i would lose

The only way to get a TCS button is to find a digital DIC off of a '97 GT. Good luck searching. The '97 GTP's don't have a TCS.
