You can check the CV's if you like, but usually they will only cause a problem when you're making a sharp turn, and will be more of a "ratcheting" sound. A CV joint won't really go bad unless the grease boot around it is torn, and leaking grease out, making the joint dry. This is very uncommon on GM vehicles, unless you have many many miles on it.
