Don't know if you all have ever heard this. When I am slow rolling through let's say a parking lot with speed bumps. and I come to a stop, sometimes I hear a noise from the left front of the car. Kind of sounds like a deep "grrr". Yes I know go ahead and laugh!!!!! This happeneds when I am on the brakes slowing through around 5 mph. And no it is not the brakes, yes they need to be done, but they aren't that bad.

Also a question about the rotors are they free floating(i.e. able to easily pull off after the caliper is off) or will I have to have a bearing pressed into them?

Thanks

Well, it really does sound like the brakes may be dragging, or even grinding a little. Maybe try doing the brakes, since they need replacing anyways. Then see how it is. And yes, the rotors just slide off after the caliper and its mounting bracket are removed.

You can check the CV's if you like, but usually they will only cause a problem when you're making a sharp turn, and will be more of a "ratcheting" sound. A CV joint won't really go bad unless the grease boot around it is torn, and leaking grease out, making the joint dry. This is very uncommon on GM vehicles, unless you have many many miles on it.

Check out your left front strut bearing plate. They will grown and growl on the early models, and maybe even later. Guy at the garage said the rubber gets dryed out and gets road shit into it. I think there are some threads on trhis someware in the archives. I squirt mine with white grease and it last for a while. P'CHOP kooky
