hey guys, today i noticed something weird on my car. I was on empty, on my way to fill up, when i noticed my needle jump up to half a tank. Slowly it went down, then back up again. Have any of you guys seen this before, and if so what causes it? thx

I think you have to change the whole fuel pump to fix the problem if I`m not mistaken (one assy type deal)

Yeup, i just changed the fuel pump and the fuel pump and the sending unit are in one. sooo a new fuel pump will fix that problem. eg. $300 bucks

try running some fuel system cleaner, you know the stuff, any brand, through your tank. There's trouble with that MMTE fuel additive the oil companies put in during refinement. it coats the variable resistor for the sending unit, but usually, if you change fuel brands, run the cleaner, and maybe about 3 tanks of high grade, you're good to go. or else its the sender

(It's a GM secret bulletin remedy...)
