What should I ask the Pontiac dealer to
accomplish during my 1st servicing visit?

I've owned my 03 GP since new but have
never taken it back to the dealer for servicing.

Now I need an oil change so I'll take it to the
dealer and have any service recalls incorporated
at the same time.

My only problems have been:

The A/C button "light" is intermittent.
The rear of the car seems to sit lower.
The oil level seems low at change intervals.
The engine idles a bit noisy at times.
And some interior rattles.

Please reply with any other items that I should
direct the dealer to accomplish.

Thanks in advance,

Adrian

Your owners manual has good guidelines to follow for routine maintenance. Having to add a quart of oil between oil changes is an acceptable rate of consumption.

I wouldn't get the dealer to do anything. They charge the most for everything.

you can look at your owners manual like hercman said, but if i was you, i'd jack the front up using some jack stands and get up under it and look around. change your oil while your at it. you can always take it in for recalls anytime.

that's just me though, i love doing the work on my vehicles when i can! after i break something trying it, then i'll call somebody smile

i bought my car new and i would take it to the dealer for its problems and warranty work where i bought it.

i reviewed the service area and made a good relationship with my service writer, but i went through 2 svc writers B4 i found 1 that i liked.

i have a good svc writer that listens to me and,, A #1.. knows my car cause i only talk to him.

my svc writer has the awards and knows my car + the dealership has been in the biz for over 40 yrs so they are stable.

my svc writer is not only knowledgeble but he intro duces me to the mickey`s that work on my car .

those mech told me that they follow my advisor around cause they keep him workin + he knows how to tell a person what he needs. the mechs told me that they will follow him if he leaves cause they know he keeps them workin.

my advisor is honest and knownelble + he has done work on my car when its necessary so he doesn`t have to tie his workers.

bottom line to you is research your dearlership and if its the only one in town then shop yur svc writers, there aregood and bad ones.
wish you luck. cool

P.S. keep the hammer down.. hammer hammer

the only open recall on an '03 might be the throttle body leak one. (Don't get it done, if you can avoid it)

GM figures the reason upper plenums on the L36 are leaking coolant into the intake is because the throttle body mating surface is warping.

The Fix: replace the three throttle body nuts with ones that have moveable (as opposed to fixed) flanges, apply blue loctite to thr threads and, get this,

add radiator stop leak pellets to your cooling system.

Thanks but no thanks. Way to address the problem guys.

Anyway, you should be clean for recalls, and if you need to be sure, phone the dealer and ask them to run your VIN for any outstandings.

Good luck!
