ok, so when im racing, after a run or two, ive noticed my headers get so hot, they actually glow red. and its not only the headers, the cat has done it once too...im getting flowmasters in two days, but i wanted to see if i could fix this problem first...the only thing i did when this happened was remove my k&n panel filter, but i dont think that would have anything to do with it.any suggestions? thanks guys! o, and ill try and post some pics and videos of the new exhaust..

Glowing exhaust components are pretty common. The headers are of a much thinner material then the stock manifolds. Look at any header equiped car when the motor has been is being put to a heavy strain like racing/dyno pulls. Perfectly normal don't worry about it.

Can't glowing headers also be caused by a clogged cat too? If the gases get trapped, it super heats.

Might want to see these:

Granted, those deal with manifolds, and as Herc said manifolds take more heat to glow. But I think the principle is the same, and you might want to check the cat and the timing just to be safe.

i have the stock headers right now...but so far, ive gotten a bunch of different answers:clogged cat, not enough fuel, bad backpressure, etc...like herc said though, i think it might just be because of the power the engine is producing...if anyone else has suggestions, im up to try anything-thanks guys

The stock "headers" are called manifolds. There's a big difference.

So you are having the exact same issue as the two links I provided above.
