Hey everyone,

Just wandering if anyone can tell me why my 97 GTP is so loud (even at idle) I have had 4 GP's and could never even hear them running but with this one is loud and gets louder when you accelerate. I took it by a local muffler shop and they said mufflers were fine-no holes and didnt need replacing. Any ideas what could be the culprit or suggestions to quiten my beast.

Were those GTPs as well? Or were your other cars non-supercharged?

I know my GTP actually has a really nice rumble to it for stock. It's not LOUD, but when you're right by the car, it sounds nice.

So the whole exhaust was ok and stock?

yes, one of my previous was sc also but brand new off lot. yes stock-he did not check the whole exhaust-he just checked the mufflers and pipes. I know it should be somewhat loud but it actually sounds like I have no muffler at all on it.

It's possible that one or both exhaust manifolds on the engine are cracked. If so, used ones are available from Morad Parts Company . Another option would be ZZP's Power Log and Ported Manifold . Hope that helps!
