I was hoping the new G8 would have functional hood scoops, but they're not... Take a look at the pontiac web site for the G8  banghead

1. The intro was pretty cool.

2. Too bad about the hood scoops, but they'll probably offer it in a year or two.

3. That thing may not be as sexy as the GTO, but I'm liking some of the options a lot better...and for only a little bit slower. smile

I think instead of the GTO, this may be my next car...lol

*edit* The intro was on the Pontiac site, not the site for the G8. I mean, it was the G8 section of the Pontiac site, but...well, you figure it out.

Give it time; I'm sure Pontiac or the aftermarket will offer it, if there's enough interest. wink

The scoops are there. On both the standard and the GT. I bet in a year or two when they offer the either a GTP or GXP you'll get your functional scoops.

But man I can't wait to see one in person. Need to know how big it is inside.

If the scoops are there, you can make them functional.

wink

Does anyone know if the coupe is going to come as an option. I just might trade up...

I'm pretty sure there is not going to be a G8 coupe, as they are making a point to market it as a powerful RWD sedan.

I know that seeing it in person is better, but here are some measurements. Lot of good info on the site, actually.

Sorry for the double post, but I don't know if anyone has seen any interior pics of the G8 yet or not.

Interior pics
Couple more pics + engine bay

I noticed two things off the bat that I don't like
1. The window controls are in between the front seats, not on the door
2. The hand-brake is...well, it just looks like crap.

The volume knob for the stereo is on the right side, like the GTO, but that's what you get for buying a car from Austrailia. lol

And just in case anyone just looks at the pics and doesn't read, that interior color will not be available (which is a good thing, IMO).

Thank gosh, that interior, I couldn't handle. My C4 has the window controls on the console near the shifter.

Can't tell but those are steering wheel controls for the stereo right????

Sucks you can't get but 19", even though performance wise smaller might be better. But I am diggin those 20" on that protoype!

I'm not sure what the controls are, and I can't find a pic on google that's much bigger. It looks like the controls on the right might be for a phone...?

But I'm lovin' the new Pontiac emblem.

The emblem was a test. More then likely won't be on the production model.

3900 pounds man it's over weight.

V6 10.2:1 compression and V8 10.4:1 CR and still runs on regular. Know what that means? Reprogram to run on 91-93 and you can squeaze a lil more out of em.

That V6 looks promising 260hp and 250 torque. It'll be a lil slower then a stock GTP (excess weight and less torqe)but it'll still get out of it's own way.

Look at the tranny options
5speed auto, 6 speed auto 6 speed manual

the autos get a 2.92 rear end mileage should be on par with a GTP nice the manual gets a more aggresive 3.27

that six speed has a sixth gear of .57 wholly molly that gonna be one low rev motor on the higway. 5 and six will only be for cruising since they are both overdrives.
