What are the pros and cons of putting a bike rack on the trunk? My family and I are thinking of doing some trail mountain bike riding this summer, but I dont have a truck to put the bikes in.....

will it make the rear end squat down to far and mess up the rear suspension?

Both

As for the rear end squatting should be a non issue unless you plan on hanging a motorcycle off the rack.

I stick my mountain bike right in the trunk with a bungee securing trunk and bike down! I remember a thread on clubgp about racks on the trunk. Try a search to find that thread, may help you out.

I'm big bike person. I have bike rack but it is from hitch under my rear bumper. I used bike rack trunk on 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I do have some scratch on it and I always fear if it will fall out of trunk lol.

There is link that I ordered it for 4 years ago. I use part #90993 for my SE sedan. It works great but you need drill it. My dad have skill so he install it for me. http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-2003_Pontiac_Grand+Prix.htm

There is picture of my car.

I have a hidden hitch brand trailer hitch which was $119 at autozone. You can buy bike racks that slide into the hitch, which you can remove when it is not needed and never scratch the trunk, or even see teh hitch. Another possibility is get the trunk covered with that clear tape they do on new cars as a semi-permanent bra. Check my page for pics of the hitch. I have the hitch bar installed, but you can see where it inserts. Check the exhaust videos which show it best.
