My 2002 Grand Prix GT has a blower motor problem.
The air or heat doesnt blow out until the dial
is turned to 4. Otherwise no air or heat comes out. I talked to a my local GM dealership.
The mechanic their said I need the Blowing
Resistor replaced. The cost $159.00
Can I fix this myself??? How difficult is this??
Can I get the part at AutoZone?? Any advice??

Your mech is correct the resistor is shot. You can DIY. Only hard part is it's in an akward spot to get to. I believe you can get the part from AZ.

Has anyone here changed this resistor before?

Is it as easy as it looks???

quite a few have done it. Although I don't think many are around that have.

The only hard thing is getting the wires disconnected and the screws out. Because it's in an akward spot up under the dash. It goes in much easier then it comes out.

Just be patient with it.

I've done it on my '98 GT and my wife's '99 SE. The online write-ups are great. Follow them and you can't fail. My advice, do some stretching before you attempt this. Push the seat all the way back and recline it. And put an old pillow on the passenger side floor. Take your time and be patient. Get out and rest everytime you feel like you're gonna loose it. Make sure you have the right tools.

number 4 setting. If I dont fix this right away will it cause anymore damage?

No it won't cause any damage, eventually 4 wont work and all it will work on is the highest setting.

Ok I will try to do this myself.
In step one removing the cover, under the dash.
How does the cover come off?? Do you have to pry
it off. Whats the best way to remove?
