Hey all.
Not sure if this is posted anywhere, musnt've looked hard enough.

I noticed that in the mornings or when my engine isn't heated up to the peak running condition you might say, i get a nice whine from my engine when i accellerate, and it gets progressively louder when i turn the wheel.

I googled this and it said that my steering fluid may / may not be low or getting low, a simple top off would do the trick. If thats the case, how on EARTH do i get to it, i looked and its tucked way the hell deep passenger side!

Thanks.

Long funnel. You can reach back and undo the cap form the top, as well as fill it.

Plenty of straws. No, i'm just kidding. Actually, I think Blackarrow had bought some long funnels online somewhere. Could be wrong though.

Would the low fluid cause the whining though??
If it helps my car is at 109k.

Power steering fluid or possibly power steering pump. Best bet fill up on power steering fluid that's probably the reason. When mine was whining it was low on steering fluid.

The cap is behind the alternator. You need a funnel with a short hose and a good eye to see when its filling up

I pulled out as much as I could with a pump and then replaced it with Valvoline Synthetic fluid with leak stop and seal conditioner. This stuff has fixed two small leaks in prior cars. The noise in my car almost went completely away.

they have long funnels at autozone for pretty cheap. Its worth the investment if youre keeping the car for long

So i topped off the PS Fluid today .. took her for a spin .. not sure if it takes a bit for it to realize its full and stop making the noise? I noticed it wasn't as LOUD but it was still there when i drove it around the block.

Any other suggestions?

To be honest, my car has had a faint whine since the day i got it. It could just be the tranny. I just got used to it. But my car has all sorts of little noises that ive just grown acustomed to.
