im wondering if anyone has built their own cai. the box mainly. i thought of buying one but 200 bucks is alot(the wizaired). i thought it can be possible with some sheet metal, plexi glass, glue and some rubber for the edges. im gunna open the oem box sometime this week and take some measurments to see if the computer may be a problem. so is there anyone that has done one or is there somthing im missing??

Just set the PCM on top of the panel that the airbox sits on.
The stock tubing should be fine with your 1999.

damn im so pissed the box did not fit. to make things even better the computer was always inn the way!!!!!!!!!! so im gunna keep the first part of the stock box. put a piece of plexi or metal in the back to seal the computer, i will leave a hole for the intake, and srcew the piece in. the stock tube is strong enough to hold a filter?!?!?!?

what are you calling a snorkle tube? AFAIK those only exist on offroad vehicles so the engines don't ingest water...

lol okay, if you don't want to answer the question I can't answer yours... I'm assuming you're talking about reusing the stock air intake tube? I would recommend changing to a PVC pipe, there are writeups around. Advantage being the air coming in will be flowing smoothly versus the turbulent air from the ridged tube.
