I thought all the motors had non adjustable rocker arms. This is a 3.1 in a 96 Beretta Z26. It has adjustable rockers just like an old style SBC. My factory repair manual is for pedestal mount only. Any ideas on the proper way to do these?

Found this online. I guess I will look into going to roller rockers.

Per GM TSB 57-61-35 December 1995

Appx 4000 1995 A/N cars were built with roller rockers. All other 1995 3100 V6 engines were built with the conventional ball and pivot type rocker arms. For 1996 the 3100 V6 engine can be manufactured with either roller rocker arms or ball and pivot type rocker arms.

Thanks, I'll look into that tomorrow, as that particulat forum is blocked by my work's web proxy. I'm stuck here monitoring the network, waiting for the phone to ring, and I can't research my issue. I'm hoping the factory pedestal rockes will bolt right up. That is a good 10+ HP and a much cooler engine oil.

Heres what you do. Make sure cylinder is tdc. While tightening the nuts spin the push rod until you can no longer spin the pushrod with you fingers. Rinse and repeat for the rest.

edit for spelling. I don't catch the errors when I'm using my Ipod.

I've decided to stay with the stamped rockers, and watch craigslist for a car being parted out that has roller rockers. They are $18 each, so buying new is not worth it. I started reassembly today at 10:30 am, it was already 92. I stopped at 12:30 when it hit 100 degrees. It was 107 on my way to work. I have nothing going on tomorrow morning, so I plan to hit the garage as soon as I get out of bed.

Herc, my buddy who runs a shop emailed me this from his online manual.

Remove valve covers. Rotate crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 is at TDC of compression stroke. Begin by adjusting exhaust valve of cylinder No. 1. See VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT SEQUENCE table. While trying to rotate push rod with thumb and forefinger, loosen nut on rocker stud until push rod just starts to rotate. This is considered zero lash. Tighten nut an additional 1 1/2 turns (this centers the lifter plunger).
Cylinder No. 1 At TDC (1) Exhaust Valves 1,2,3 Intake Valves 1,5,6
Cylinder No. 4 At TDC (1) Exhaust Valves 4,5,6 Intake Valves 2,3,4
