Help!! This morning when I wanted to go out I could not shift the car out of park. I had to override it by taking the dustcover of and sick a pen in the little whole so I could shift into drive. Can any tell me what the probable cuz, is it a censor and where might that be located. Other than the park issue the car shift properly when I drive it. I hope some one can help me

In the fuse box behind the glove box, check the fuse marked BTSI to see if it's blown. Other possible causes are broken wires in the shifter harness, no brake lights, or a problem with the BTSI module (black box) below the shifter.

This seems to be an intermittent problem sometimes it will not get out of park other times there is no problem. But I do have brake lights. I was wondering could it be the switch behind the brake pedal, since you have press the pedal before you can switch out of park. I'm really guessing here my self

Its been awhile but wasnt there a rash of bad solenoids in the dash related to the shifter.
